Sashiko is Traditional Japanese Quilting stitch designs.  In this class we will learn to make more modern looking hand stitches using the Japanese Sashiko method and explore ways to use them in a quilt.  Very easy and fun and it doesn't take too long to finish!

SUPPLY LIST

Sewing Machine (Don't forget power cord and foot control)

Machine feet:  Open toe foot and Walking foot
Thread: Natural and bobbin
Needle: Microtex Sharp 80/12
Fabric marking pencil
Stencils - Japanese Designs
Small sharp scissors
Safety pins or quilt basting spray
Hand needles - Embroidery six 1/5
Round quilting hoop 10" or 12"
Perle Cotton #3, #5 and #8 solids and variegated
Beads - a variety of color, sizes and shapes
Beading thread and needles

Fabric: - 100% Cotton

Cut 1 piece 16" x 20" for background

Cut 2 pieces 3 1/2" x 20" for left & right borders
Cut 2 pieces 2 1/2" x 22" for top & bottom borders
Cut 3 pieces 2 1/2" x 40" for binding
Cut 1 piece 23" x 27" for backing
Cut 1 piece 23" x 27" for batting (use Thermore Batting by Hobbs)
