Beyond the Block - A Technique Class

This class will set you outside your comfort zone, as there are NO RULES. Each step will teach you how to make a dynamic and interesting quilt with many different elements. You will use your knowledge and skills to create your own custom design and layout. No two quilts will be the same. Once you let go of the "Rules", the fun begins. There is no pattern, no size requirements, or fabric quantity requirements. It's all up to you! (I will give you some fabric suggestions to start, but the rest is up to you.)
SUPPLY LIST
Fabric to start:
1/2 to 1 yard OR Assorted blocks for Focus Fabric - this could be a print you love, a panel with multiple blocks, or orphan blocks from previous projects.
1/2 to 1 yard each: Fabrics that compliment and coordinate with your Focus Fabric. Choose at least 6-10 fabrics. The more fabrics you have, the more interesting your quilt will be. Blenders and small prints work best.
Equipment:
Good working sewing machine
Rotary cutter
Rulers (for cutting fabric and assorted blocks)
Cutting mat
Thread
This class is based on the book "Beyond the Block" by Jane K. Wells and Linda K. Johnson (Crafty Ol' Broads). The book is out of print, but you can find it on one of the used book sites. It is not a requirement for this technique, but it has lots of ideas and inspiration.
