CANON CITY - Fabric Landscape from a Photograph

Turn a wonderful memory into fabric collage art!  In this class, you'll learn how to posterize a landscape image with your laptop (or mine that I'll have with me!)  to get the color values and templates needed to complete your piece.  Then, we'll fuse your chosen fabric scraps to a piece of batting, place a piece of tulle over the piece, and free motion quilt or hand stitch to add texture and stabilization

Materials:

12" piece of cotton batting
Fusible Interfacing of your choice
Fabric scraps in desired colors.  (At least 5 different values recommended)
Backing and Border Fabric
12" piece of tulle
Threads for free motion quilting or hand stitching to coordinate with fabrics.

Supplies:

Basic Sewing Kit (scissors, rotary, rulers, etc.)
Machine if Free Motion quilting (this can all be done by hand if desired)
Small iron and surface
Parchment paper or silicon sheet
Small rotary and mat

NOTE:  Please email me any photo that you'd like to use ahead of time if you'd like.  Once we choose an appropriate photo, I can posterize and print your template pieces ahead of time.  I am happy to consult and help.  knittycat@comcast.net

I can't wait to stitch and play with you!

Who is Ann Myhre?

Opening and running my knit shop, Knitty Cat, for nearly 11 years, gave me the wonderful opportunity to learn more about knitting, crochet, needle felting, quilting, embroidery and beading. While I'm thankful for the days I spent at the shop, the experience I gained, and the lifelong friends I've made, I decided to close the business at the end of 2013 to pursue and exhibit my own personal artwork.

I am also looking forward to teaching detailed techniques through my own books and patterns, classes and retreats. My first book, Quilt As Inspired, Volume I, is now available through Amazon.com and shows over 20 techniques, including the quilting, and how to easily assemble your stitched sections.

I am also currently working on a series of art quilts playing with yarns, unconventional fabrics and unusual surface design together with incorporating traditional quilting techniques. I gather inspiration from everywhere.
