First Stitches Sewing Store and Quilt Shops are locally owned and operated in Southern Colorado, offering sewing classes and qualified sewing machine sales and service.
The story of First Stitches began in 2011, when owner, Kimberly Smith, purchased four Baby Lock sewing machines and traveled to various locations, teaching beginner sewing lessons to individuals of all ages.
Recognizing the community's need for a sewing center and repair shop, she decided to sell Janome Sewing Machines in a small space in the back of a bookstore in Cañon City, Colorado. Within a few months, however, customers insisted she needed more space. So in the spring of 2013, her husband purchased a charming circa 1934 brick building on 4th street. In the summer of 2014, First Stitches expanded their line of excellent sewing machines to include the Baby Lock brand.
In the summer of 2017, Kim, alongside her husband Randy, decided to open a second store in Pueblo, Colorado. Located at 805 Eagleridge Blvd., Suite 140, First Stitches Pueblo has ample parking and is filled with Baby Lock and Brother sewing and embroidery machines along with a full line of Janome sewing and embroidery machines. As in Cañon City, First Stitches Pueblo offers high quality traditional and modern fabrics.
Kim and Randy have filled their Cañon City shop with high-quality fabric, Janome, Baby Lock and Brother sewing machines, notions, books, patterns and more, to meet a variety of creative sewing needs. But more importantly, she makes sure that her customers are greeted by warm smiles, friendly, personalized service...and lots of memorable moments! Their new Pueblo store offers Baby Lock and Brother machines with an abundance of fabric and notions.
