Lone Star
Please read and ask questions before you sign up for this class!
The sample hanging in the store is an expanded and enhanced version of the Lone Star quilt. You may wish to start with a simple 8 pointed Lone star instead of adding the additional 8 points around the quilt and the inset mini stars. If you feel particularly confident and have time for homework you could do the center star with the surrounding 8 points and replace the mini stars with plain squares or another design or explore one of many variations on a Lone Star that we will explore on the first night of class.
Please DO NOT purchase fabrics before the first class. The fabrics listed below are an idea of what you might need.

Supplies for 8 pointed star beginning in the center and working out:
Fabric 1 ½ yard
Fabric 2 ½ yard
Fabric 3 5/8 yard
Fabric 4 ¾ yard
Fabric 5 7/8 yard
Fabric 6 1 yard
Background 2 ½ yards
Borders – yardage will be discussed in the first class
Supplies for 8 pointed star with additional 8 point surround:
- Fabric 1 ½ yard
- Fabric 2 ¾ yard

Other supplies you will need:
Clover .45 mm pins (blue headed flower pins – very thin)
¼ inch foot for your sewing machine without a guide attached to the side
Chalk marking pencil
#2 marking pencil
Be sure to check the accuracy of your ¼ inch seam prior to the second class
- Grided rulers
- Sewing machine in good working order
- neutral thread and several wound bobbins
- Rotary cutter with new blade
- General sewing supplies
- Freezer paper for class #3
- Colored pencils for class #1
- Design mirrors (optional) but very useful
